Bologna sack ex-Italy coach Donadoni

Rome, Italy: Italian top flight outfit Bologna fired their coach Roberto Donadoni after three years in the job, the club said on Thursday.

The 54-year-old led Bologna to 15th in the Serie A table this season and never finished higher than 14th with them.

"He gave us credibility but the feeling was that after three seasons he and his staff had come to the end of something," club president Joey Saputo said.

As a player Donadoni won the European Cup three times with AC Milan.

He also took over Italy as world champions in 2006 and had a good two-year spell that ended in the quarter-finals of the 2008 Euros with defeat to Spain.
