Big boost for Al Sadd as Baghdad Bounedjah signs new deal

Doha, Qatar: Prolific striker Baghdad Bounedjah signed a new deal with Al Sadd that will keep the Algerian talisman with the QNB Stars League leaders until 2024.

Bounedjah, who has been linked with some European clubs recently, said he was delighted to offer more for the side.

“This new contract with Al-Sadd makes me proud and happy. I'm really excited to offer more for the team,” said Bounedjah on Friday.

I am happy with the project of the club and I want to promise everyone that I will perform even better in the upcoming challenges. Our goal will be to win more titles. Also, I want to express my gratitude to everyone at the club – the management, the players, the coaches – and also the fans, with whom I share a lot of love.

Bounedjah has been in sensational form this season, both in the QNB Stars League and in the AFC Champions League, where he emerged as the top scorer.

In the QSL, Bounedjah has scored 29 goals so far from only 15 matches and has already broken the previous mark of 27 set by Brazilian Clemerson Soares for Al Gharafa during the 2007-08 season.
