Belmadi completes 100 matches as Al Duhail coach

Doha: Algerian Djamel Belmadi completed his 100th match as Al Duhail coach against Qatar Sports Club in the QNB Stars League last week.

The Algerian, who also guided the Qatar national team to 2014 Gulf Cup victory, is one of the most successful coaches in recent years in the domestic season after having guided the erstwhile Lekhwiya to back-to-back titles in 2010-11, 2011-12 and 2016-17.

Out of these 100 matches, the team won 62, drew 18 and lost 20.

Following his success in the league, the 41-year-old was selected as the Qatar national coach from 2013-2015, and helped them win the 2014 Gulf Cup title in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, but met with little success at the 2015 Asia Cup in Australia.

Lekhwiya re-appointed him as their head coach after Michael Laudrup, who guided them to QSL title in 2014-15, left the job.
