Belhadj joins Markhiya

NEWLY-PROMOTED Markhiya signed Algerian midfielder Nadir Belhadj last week.

The 34-year-old is quite familiar with Qatar football, having spent six productive seasons with Al Sadd.

Markhiya Sports Club President Mubarak Al Nuaimi said Belhadj’s experience would come in handy for the club as they look to stay in the top flight next season.

“Belhadj will be a leader for us on the pitch, his experience will be vital to our survival in the Qatar Stars League,” said Al Nuaimi.

“Belhadj can play in the centre and left of the midfield as well as in defence, which is important for us,” added Al Nuaimi.

Markhiya have also signed 22-year-old Iraqi defender Saad Natiq and Burkina Faso striker Alain Traore.
