Bayern reach Doha for camp

DOHA: German league champions Bayern Munich reached Doha on Tuesday for a nine-day training camp.
Bayern’s Doha camp, which follows a winter break, is aimed at getting the players ready for the second phase of the domestic season and the knockout phase of Champions League, where they are drawn against Premier League side Arsenal.
A total of 21 first-team players and three aspirants from the junior team — Raphael Obermair, Marco Friedl and Christian Fruchtl — will train at the Aspire Zone.
Defender Jerome Boateng, who tore his tendon during training last month, has stayed back in Munich to continue his recuperation.
Mats Hummels, who joined from rivals Borussia Dortmund this season, said, “I was at a training camp in Dubai last year and the conditions were perfect. I hope it’ll be similar in Doha.”
As part of their camp, Bayern will play against ASPIRE Academy-owned KAS Eupen on January 10.
