Barca praises Qatar Airways

Barcelona expressed gratitude to Qatar Airways for supporting the team since 2010-11 at its Board of Directors meeting on Monday.

“We’re grateful to Qatar Foundation and Qatar Airways for having been excellent sponsors. They’ve acted properly, fulfilled obligations, and have helped FCB in a reasonable and significant way,”? said club spokesman Josep Vives.

Vives also said negotiations are on to finalise a sponsorship agreement with Qatar Airways that would make it the club’s official airline.

“The club vice-president Manel Arroyo said about it a few days ago. We’re working towards it,” he added. “We’re holding talks with Qatar Airways. The official airline sponsorship is a product that exists, and it is one that the club is selling.”

Vives also hoped the situation in the Gulf will become normal.

“Our hope is for peace and harmony to be restored in the Arab world. We’re speaking from the heart beyond any other considerations or geopolitical interests.”
