Ancelotti urges Real Madrid to amp Up intensity for Champions League clash with Bayern
MADRID: Manager Carlo Ancelotti has issued a stern warning to his Real Madrid squad ahead of their crucial Champions League semi-final return leg against Bayern Munich. Despite securing the LaLiga title with four games to spare, Ancelotti is not letting his team off the hook for their lackluster performance in the first leg, which ended in a 2-2 draw.
In a press conference on Tuesday, Ancelotti emphasized the need for intensity and pace in their gameplay if they are to keep their hopes alive for the LaLiga-European Cup double. He pointed out defensive lapses in the previous match and stressed that another subpar performance could dash their dreams of reaching the final at Wembley Stadium on June 1.
Despite Bayern Munich’s disappointing domestic campaign, Ancelotti is not underestimating the challenge they pose. He acknowledged the extra motivation Bayern will have to salvage their season by clinching the Champions League trophy, the only silverware still within their grasp after losing their Bundesliga crown to Bayer Leverkusen.
