Ambitious Al Wakrah unveil new players
Doha, Qatar: Al Wakrah Sports Club unveiled their new summer signings — Brazilian defender Bruno Uvini, Spanish midfielders Isaías Sánchez and Cristian Ceballos and Algerian striker Mohamed Benvettou at a press conference on Wednesday.
Oman midfielder Jamil Al Hamdi, whose contract was extended for another season, was also present at the press conference attended by club vice president Salman bin Abdul Ghani, assistant coach Ali Al Marri.
Sánchez, who joined from A-League side Adelaide United was delighted with the opportunity, saying he will put in all his experience to succeed at Wakrah. Fellow Spaniard Ceballos, formerly with Belgian club Sint-Truidense, said he was physically ready and just needed to adapt to the new weather conditions. Attacking midfielder Ceballos is a versatile player and can operate as a playmaker and can also play in the wings.
Uvini, 28, will not have any trouble adapting to the conditions as he was with Saudi Arabian side Al Nassr FC for the past three years. Benvettou also has plenty of experience in the region and Wakrah fans expect the new signings to make an immediate impact.
