Al Sailiya build towards new season with Austria training camp
Al Sailiya are continuing their preparations for the 2026-27 Doha Bank Stars League season with an intensive pre-season training camp in Radkersburg, Austria, as the club looks to improve on last season’s campaign.
The camp, which runs from July 18 to Aug. 7, has focused on enhancing the players’ tactical, technical and physical conditioning under head coach Mirghani Al Zain and his coaching staff ahead of the new season.
As part of their preparations, Al Sailiya have played a series of friendly matches against UAE clubs Al Nasr, Sharjah and Kalba, as well as Saudi Arabian side Abha. The fixtures have provided the coaching staff with an opportunity to evaluate the squad, assess the readiness of new signings and strengthen team cohesion.
Al Sailiya finished 10th in the 2025-26 Qatar Stars League standings with 22 points after recording six wins, four draws and 12 defeats, scoring 25 goals while conceding 38.
The club have strengthened their squad with the arrivals of goalkeepers Bautista Burke and Motasem Al Bustami, along with Andri Syahputra, Ahmed Moein, Ibrahim Majed and Abdulaziz Al Bakri. They join an established group that includes Matias Nani, Younes Belhanda, Kellian van der Kaap, Ali Olwan, Mohamed Al Taabouni and Anwar El Ghazi.
Al Sailiya will open their 2026-27 league campaign against Al Duhail at Al Bayt Stadium on Aug. 22 as they seek to climb the standings and establish themselves as stronger contenders in domestic competitions.
