Al Sadd sign goalkeeper Abubaker Mohammed Hassan on five-year deal

DOHA: Defending Doha Bank Stars League champions Al Sadd have signed goalkeeper Abubaker Mohammed Hassan from Al Khor on a five-year contract, the Qatari club said.

The 23-year-old will remain with Al Sadd until 2031, beginning a new chapter in his career after spending the 2025-26 season with Al Khor, whom he joined from Al Mesaimeer in July 2025.

The move is part of Al Sadd’s preparations for the 2026-27 campaign as the club looks to strengthen its squad ahead of another busy season in domestic and continental competitions.

Al Sadd will begin the new season under Romanian coach Razvan Lucescu, who was appointed to replace Italian Roberto Mancini following the conclusion of the previous campaign.

The club is currently holding a pre-season training camp in Austria, where the squad is undergoing intensive preparations ahead of the new season.

Lucescu is expected to use the camp to improve the team’s physical condition, tactical organisation and match fitness before competitive action begins.

Al Sadd will enter the 2026-27 season aiming to defend their Doha Bank Stars League title while also challenging for domestic cup honours. The Qatari champions are also set to compete in the AFC Champions League, where they will look to make a strong impact against the continent’s leading clubs.

The signing of Mohammed Hassan adds further depth to Al Sadd’s squad as the club continues to reinforce its roster ahead of a demanding campaign.
