Al Rayyan edge Al Wakrah as QSL resumes
Doha, Qatar: Yacine Brahimi scored in the 90th minute as Al Rayyan defeated Al Wakrah 1-0 to keep their title push well and truly alive in the Qatar Stars League on Sunday.
The match looked destined for a draw as Rayyan were unable to unlock Wakrah defence but Brahimi met Rodrigo Tabata's freekick with a beautiful right-footer from just outside the box.
The win took second-placed Rayyan's tally to 25 points from 11 games while Wakrah are ninth with 12 points.
Leaders Al Duhail are on 26 points and will take on Al Ahli on Sunday.
In Saturday's other matches, Al Arabi were held to 1-1 draw by 10-man Qatar SC while Al Sailiya defeated Umm Salal 2-0.
Arabi took the lead through Hamdi Harbaoui in the 14th minute and even though Qatar SC were down to 10 men in the 20th after Eisa Palangi was sent off in the 20th, they fought back brilliantly to equalise through Kayke Rodrigues in the 25th and bravely held on for the rest of the match.
