Al Nasr prove too good for Jaish

DOHA: The UAE’s Al Nasr  took a big step towards reaching their first-ever AFC Champions League semifinal after beating Qatar’s El Jaish 3-0 in the first leg quarterfinal at the Lekhwiya Stadium here on Wednesday.

Striker Wanderley Santos netted a brace for the visitors while Jonathan Pitroipa chipped in with a goal.

After a slow start, the game burst into life as half-time approached and Wanderley gave Al Nasr the lead shortly before the interval.

Pitroipa put the visitors two up on 54 minutes, before Wanderley’s double with six minutes remaining wrapped up a resounding victory ahead of the return fixture in Dubai on September 14.
