DOHA: Al Arabi notched up a comfortable 3-0 win over Umm Salal at the QNB Stars League here at the Al Gharafa Stadium on Saturday.
The win lifted them to the sixth place with 21 points while Umm Salal suffered their sixth defeat to stay on eighth with 17 points.
Fahad Al Balooshi (27th and 36th minute) and Mohammed Salah El Neel (53rd) were the scorers for the former champions who, however, haven’t done well in the competition.
A nice exchange between Franco Hurtado and El Neel saw Al Balooshi tap the through pass from close.
Ten minutes later, Arabi increased their lead when Al Balooshi outjumped his marker to head home Diego Jardel corne.
Umm Salal, who were not in their best form, paid price for profligacy when El Neel intercepted a back-pass from Jawad Ahnash and beat the goalkeeper for his side’s third goal.
Al Sailiya overcome Al Khor 2-1
In the other match of the evening, Al Sailiya beat Al Khor 2-1 with goals scored by Rachid Tiberkanine (14th & 48th) minute while Wagner Ferreira pulled one back from the spot in the 79th.
The defeat kept Khor in the relegation zone as they have managed just nine points, six more than 12th placed Al Kharaitiyat.
Sailiya end the weekend on 28 points to be third behind Al Duhail (36) and Al Sadd (35). Al Rayyan occupies the fourth spot on 27 points.
