Al Arabi, Al Markhiya complete Amir Cup quarterfinal lineup

Doha, Qatar: Al Arabi defeated Al Khor 4-3 on penalties to make the last eight of Amir Cup while Al Markhiya completed the quarterfinal line-up after stunning Al Gharafa 1-0.

In the first match at Al Gharafa Stadium, Arabi and Al Khor were locked at 2-2 at the end of the regulation period.

At one point, Al Khor seemed to be cruising towards the quarterfinals after taking a 2-0 lead thanks to goals from Tiago Bezerra (14th minute) and Nayef Al Beraiki (46th).

Al Arabi however rallied and blitzed Al Khor with two goals in two minutes first from Pierre-Michel Lasogga and then from Hamdi Harbaoui to take the game into penalties where they kept their nerve.

In the second match, Aden Ali scored the only goal in the 63rd minute to seal the victory for Markhiya.

Al Sailiya, Al Rayyan, Al Sadd, Al Duhail, Al Wakrah and Al Ahli had already booked their last-eight berth.
