Al Ahli unveil new coach Ruben de la Barrera

Doha, Qatar: QNB Stars League side Al Ahli unveiled their new coach Rubén de la Barrera on Friday.

Ahli had sacked Czech Republic’s Milan Machala and hired the Spaniard, who has been with Spanish League side Real Sociedad as an assistant coach, on Thursday.

Ahli Executive Director Arif Abdulrahman, Sports Director Abdullah Jassim and Football Head Mohammed Abdullah Mustafa were also present at the unveiling.

Abdulrahman said the 33-year-old De la Barrera has signed an 18-month deal and was hopeful of extending it.

De la Barrera said he was delighted to have the opportunity to train in Qatar, saying he did not hesitate to accept the offer when he was contacted by the club's president, Ahmed bin Hamad.

Ahli ???????are fifth in the table with 26 points, 12 behind leaders Al Sadd.
