Al Ahli, Al Wakrah enter Amir Cup quarterfinals

Doha, Qatar: Al Ahli defeated Qatar SC 2-1 to book their berth in the quarterfinals of the Amir Cup on Friday.

Jouhen Benson opened the scoring for Ahli in the 34th minute with a header only for Sardor Rashidov to equalise in the 64th.

But Mohammed Diame struck in the 88th minute, emerging unmarked inside the box to head home a corner and that proved to be the winner.

In another match, Al Wakra beat Al Shahania 10-9 in a nail-biting tie-breaker to move into the last eight.

The regulation time had ended goalless.
