Ahli’s Jabbari suffers minor knee injury

AL AHLI’S Iranian international Mojtaba Jabbari returned to Doha from the team’s pre-season training in Venlo, the Netherlands, after suffering a minor knee injury.

However, Jabbari, who joined from native side Sepahan in 2013-14, is expected to be fit in time for Ahli’s first match against Al Gharafa in the Qatar Stars League on September 15.

“I’ve big ambitions with Ahli. I want to help my team achieve victories, but more importantly to be in the best shape in time,” said the 33-year-old attacking midfielder.

Meanwhile, Ahli beat local side VVV-Venlo 3-2. The result will give coach Luka Bonacic plenty of confidence before the start of the league.

Ahli, who finished sixth last season, are to play a friendly against Saudi Arabian side Al Batin in Doha on August 29.
