AC Milan secure Emerson Royal from Spurs in long-term deal

MILAN: AC Milan have bolstered their defense by signing Brazilian right-back Emerson Royal from Tottenham Hotspur on a contract that runs until June 2028, with an option to extend for an additional year. The transfer, announced by the Serie A giants on Monday, marks a significant addition to Milan’s squad as they prepare for the upcoming season.

While the exact financial terms of the deal remain undisclosed, reports from British media suggest that the transfer is valued at approximately 15 million euros ($16.38 million), with an additional three million euros potentially payable in performance-based add-ons.

Emerson, a 25-year-old Brazil international with 10 caps, moved to Tottenham in 2021 after a stint with Barcelona. His career began in Brazil, where he progressed through the ranks at Ponte Preta before moving to Atletico Mineiro.
