Doha: Al Arabi picked up their second win in the Qatar Stars League when they defeated Al Kharaitiyat 1-0 in the third round at the Khalifa International Stadium on Saturday.
It was a much-needed for Arabi particularly after their 10-0 thrashing by Al Sadd in the previous game.
Mudir Abdurabu netted the all-important goal in the 14th minute as Arabi, who had lost big-time to Al Sadd in the previous round, moved to six points.
Abdurabu headed the ball home following a corner kick by Diego Jardel after it was cut back to him by Mohammed Salah El Neel.
Kharaitiyat, who lost their third successive match, could not field their new recruit Algerian midfielder Jugurtha Hamroun. They made some feeble attemps late into the match with efforts from Atiyah Faez and Abdulrab, but it wasn't good enough to test the Arabi back-line.
In another match played at the same venue, Al Khor were held to a 1-1 draw by Al Shahania.
Ahmed Yasin acored for Khor in the 10th minute, but Sultan Al Kuwari cancelled it out in the 67th.
Sunday's Matches: Al Sadd vs Al Gharafa (Al Sadd Stadium, 17:25); Al Duhail vs Al Rayyan (Khalifa International Stadium, 19:35).
