FIG Judges Course concludes in Doha

Doha, Qatar: The FIG Artistic Gymnastics Judges Course concluded here today.
A total of 85 judges from 28 countries, including Jordan, China, India, South Korea, Italy, Brazil, Australia, and hosts Qatar participated in the five-day course, hosted by the Qatar Gymnastics Federation (QGF) in collaboration with International Gymnastics Federation (FIG).
The course featured intensive theoretical and practical sessions aimed at enhancing the participants’ knowledge in gymnastics, with a focus on the latest rule changes in the sport.
The course was conducted by two renowned FIG technical experts – Italy’s Donnaella Sacchi and Russia’s Liubov Andrianova.
Both the experts provided valuable insights into the nuances of artistic gymnastics judging.
The President of Qatar Gymnastics Federation Ali Al Hitmi emphasized the importance of the course in advancing the technical capabilities of referees.
“The course only helped attendees stay updated with the most recent developments in gymnastics but also offered them the opportunity to earn an international refereeing badge. The certification will enable referees to officiate at international competitions,” said Al Hitmi.
Donatella, president of Women’s Artistic Gymnastics Technical Committee at FIG, praised the dedication of the participants, noting their strong engagement and enthusiasm throughout the course.
Sacchi wished the referees success in the tests, expressing confidence in their capabilities and the growth of gymnastics in Qatar.
At the conclusion of the course, participants underwent tests to assess their understanding of the curriculum covered, with results to be reviewed by the FIG’s Technical Committee.
FIG Artistic Gymnastics Judges Course is a part of the QGF’s ongoing efforts to elevate the sport’s standards across all aspects including judging, coaching and management.
