Dreher shines in Doha with spectacular jump-off victory

DOHA: In a thrilling precursor to the Longines Global Champions Tour Grand Prix of Doha, Hans-Dieter Dreher and Vestmalle des Cotis showcased speed and precision to secure victory under the dazzling lights of the Longines Arena at Al Shaqab.

The electrifying 1.50m jump-off class, designed by Peter Schumacher, tested the world’s top riders and horses in a high-stakes contest. Spain’s Eduardo Alvarez Aznar came agonizingly close, finishing just 0.99 seconds behind Dreher aboard Legend, while Germany’s Marcus Ehning and DPS Revere delivered a textbook round to take third place.

Reflecting on his win, Dreher expressed his delight: “I’m really happy today. My horse jumped amazingly — I know he is really, really fast. It was a quick jump-off, and normally he doesn’t favour left turns, but today he did!”

Attention now shifts to today’s highly anticipated Super Saturday, where the world’s best riders will compete for the first Golden Ticket to the prestigious LGCT Super Grand Prix at the GC Prague Playoffs in November.(Gulf Times)
