Aspire Zone closes registration for inaugural Dome Race after strong turnout
DOHA : Aspire Zone Foundation has closed registration for the inaugural “Dome Race” after reaching the participation limit for the community sporting event, which will be held on Aug. 28 and 29 inside the Aspire Dome.
The foundation said the strong response from community members prompted it to close registration after the allocated places were filled. It thanked participants for their enthusiasm and interest in taking part in the event.
The Dome Race will feature a 4.8-kilometre course inside the fully air-conditioned Aspire Dome, offering participants of different fitness levels an opportunity to take part in a sporting challenge in a family-friendly environment.
The programme includes a race exclusively for women and open races, along with interactive activities and cheering stations along the course.
The women’s race will take place on Friday from 7 a.m. to 11 a.m., while an open race is scheduled from 2 p.m. to 8 p.m. A further open race will be held on Saturday from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.
Male staff members will be present as part of the organising and media coverage teams during the women’s race.
Aspire Zone Foundation has also invited members of the wider community to attend the event, enjoy the accompanying activities and support the participants throughout the races.
The foundation said the event forms part of its efforts to encourage a more active lifestyle, promote participation in sport and provide innovative sporting experiences in a world-class environment.
The inaugural Dome Race is expected to combine competition, entertainment and community engagement as Aspire Zone Foundation seeks to make the event a regular feature of its sporting calendar.
