Aspetar to host orthopedic masterclass with live surgeries in Doha

DOHA : Aspetar, Orthopedic and Sports Medicine Hospital in Doha, will host an accredited orthopedic masterclass on Sept. 19 featuring live surgeries, expert case discussions and multidisciplinary sessions, the hospital said.

The full-day event, titled “Aspetar Orthopedic Masterclass: Live Surgery and Multidisciplinary Insights”, will take place at the Aspetar Auditorium and will also be available online.

More than 140 orthopedic surgeons, physicians and healthcare professionals from Qatar and abroad are expected to attend the masterclass, which aims to provide advanced surgical education and promote the exchange of medical expertise.

The programme will include live orthopedic procedures, interactive case discussions and question-and-answer sessions, allowing participants to observe clinical decision-making in real time and discuss treatment approaches with specialists.

Sessions will focus on common and complex sports-related conditions affecting the knee, shoulder and ankle. Topics will include meniscus injuries, multiligament knee reconstruction, as well as shoulder and ankle instability.

Registration remains open for both in-person and online participation, Aspetar said.

Dr. Khalid Al Khelaifi, orthopedic consultant and director of Aspetar’s Visiting Surgeon Program, said the masterclass reflected the hospital’s commitment to advancing surgical excellence and sharing expertise with healthcare professionals in Qatar and internationally.

“By combining live surgical demonstrations with multidisciplinary discussions, Aspetar offers participants a valuable opportunity to observe real-time clinical decision-making,” Al Khelaifi said.

He added that the event would allow participants to explore developments in sports orthopedics and strengthen collaboration among medical specialties, with the broader goal of improving patient care and treatment outcomes.

The masterclass is part of Aspetar’s efforts to provide continuing medical education and foster international knowledge exchange in orthopedic and sports medicine.
