Qatar gears up for West Asian Men’s Volleyball Championship in Bahrain

DOHA: The Qatari men’s volleyball team is intensifying its preparations for the inaugural West Asian Men’s Championship, set to take place in Bahrain from July 17 to 27. Under the guidance of Argentine coach Camilo Soto, the squad has been training daily at the Qatar Volleyball Association Hall, displaying high levels of focus and commitment.

Qatar is placed in Group B alongside regional rivals Kuwait, Saudi Arabia, and Oman, while Group A features hosts Bahrain, the UAE, Jordan, and Lebanon. The team will kick off its campaign against Saudi Arabia on July 19, followed by matches against Oman on July 20 and Kuwait on July 21.

Coach Soto highlighted the significance of the tournament in the team’s broader development plan, noting the momentum gained from Qatar’s bronze-medal finish at the recent Asian Nations Championship. Team member Dhahi Mubarak echoed the coach’s sentiments, stressing the need for unwavering concentration and expressing confidence in the team’s ability to compete for the title.

With a blend of experience, ambition, and growing regional stature, Qatar is aiming to make a strong statement in Bahrain and continue building on its continental success.
