Philipsen wins in stage 13 of Tour de France, edging out Van Aert
AGEN, France: In a thrilling conclusion to Stage 13 of the Tour de France, Jasper Philipsen of Alpecin-Deceuninck clinched victory in a crash-marred sprint finale. The 165km flat stage, stretching from Agen to Pau, saw Philipsen narrowly outpace Visma-Lease a Bike’s Wout Van Aert, securing his second stage win in just four days.
The race seemed to be in Van Aert’s grasp when his teammate expertly led him out for the final sprint. However, Philipsen timed his attack perfectly, overtaking his Belgian compatriot who also finished second in Thursday’s Stage 12.
Meanwhile, Tadej Pogacar of UAE Team Emirates retained the yellow jersey, maintaining his lead in the overall standings. Pogacar remains one minute and six seconds ahead of Remco Evenepoel, with Jonas Vingegaard trailing by an additional eight seconds.
