French hurdler Happio provisionally suspended for whereabouts failures

PARIS: French hurdler Wilfried Happio has been provisionally suspended by the Athletics Integrity Unit (AIU) for multiple whereabouts failures. The AIU announced the decision on Thursday, citing non-compliance with anti-doping protocols.

Under the World Anti-Doping Agency’s “whereabouts” rule, athletes are required to provide accurate location information and be available for drug testing for one hour each day. Failing to meet these requirements three times within a 12-month period constitutes a rule violation under World Athletics’ anti-doping regulations.

Happio, a rising star in French athletics, now faces uncertainty regarding his future in the sport. His suspension highlights the importance of strict adherence to anti-doping measures aimed at maintaining the integrity of competitive athletics.(Reuters)
