Davis shines as Lakers edge Spurs; LeBron makes history

Anthony Davis delivered a dominant 40-point performance, complemented by 12 rebounds, to propel the Los Angeles Lakers to a 120-115 victory over the San Antonio Spurs on Friday in NBA Cup action. LeBron James added a triple-double, his fourth in as many games, to further cement his legendary status in his 22nd NBA season.

James tallied 15 points, 15 rebounds, and 12 assists in 38 minutes, becoming the oldest player in NBA history to achieve four consecutive triple-doubles. Despite committing seven turnovers, James was reflective. “I love the game and I’m happy I’m still able to come out here and make some plays to help our ball club win,” he said.

Davis outdueled last year’s Rookie of the Year, Victor Wembanyama, who posted 28 points and 14 rebounds for the Spurs. “Another magnificent game by AD,” said James. “He has definitely been a beast this year.”

In a tense finish, Davis’s late slam dunk and James’s layup secured the Lakers’ win. The Lakers improved their position in West Group B, while the Spurs continue to struggle.
