Aspire Zone marks Qatar National Sports Day with mass participation events

DOHA: Aspire Zone Foundation organised a wide range of community sporting activities at Aspire Park on Tuesday to mark Qatar’s National Sports Day, held annually on the second Tuesday of February.

More than 20 sporting activities were staged across the foundation’s open-air facilities as part of the 2026 celebrations, aimed at promoting physical activity and encouraging a healthy lifestyle among all segments of society.

Held under the slogan “I Chose Sport,” the events ran from 8:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. across several locations in Aspire Park, including Stadiums 10, 11 and 12.Employees and members of the public took part in activities including a walk around Aspire Lake, fitness classes, spinning, football, gymnastics, volleyball, basketball, table tennis, archery, hockey, chess, padel and parachute jumping.

The programme also featured events linked to the Youth 22 initiative, a sports corner and activities organised by Aspetar.

The event was attended by several senior officials, including Shura Council Speaker Hassan bin Abdullah Al Ghanim, Minister of Municipality Abdullah bin Hamad Al Attiyah, Public Works Authority President Mohammed Abdulaziz Al Meer, Aspire Zone Foundation Acting Chief Executive Abdullah Nasser Al Nuaimi, Ministry of Sports and Youth Undersecretary Yasser bin Abdullah Al Jamal, and Aspetar Acting General Manager Khalid Ali Al Mawlawi, along with members of the Shura Council and sports figures.

Mohammed Abdulaziz Al Meer said Ashghal’s participation reflected its belief in promoting sport as a way of life and improving public health, praising the strong turnout from employees and their families.

He also thanked Aspire Zone Foundation for its organisation and cooperation, saying the facilities provided an exemplary environment for the success of the events.

Al Nuaimi said National Sports Day underlined Qatar’s commitment to embedding physical activity into daily life, adding that Aspire Zone Foundation’s role aligned with Qatar National Vision 2030 by promoting active living, healthy sustainability and greater public awareness of sport’s role in health and development.

Aspire Zone Foundation Chief Marketing Officer Nasser Abdullah Al Hajri said the strong community turnout reflected growing awareness of the importance of sport in enhancing public health and quality of life.
