Alexandrova reaches Linz Final with commanding win over Muchova

LINZ,Austria: No. 4 seed Ekaterina Alexandrova powered into her second consecutive final at the Upper Austria Ladies Linz with a commanding 6-0, 6-4 victory over top seed Karolina Muchova on Saturday. The Russian needed just 73 minutes to claim her fourth win in five meetings against the Czech star.

Alexandrova, seeking her fifth career WTA title, will face No. 5 seed Dayana Yastremska of Ukraine in Sunday’s final. Yastremska earned her place in the title match with a 6-1, 6-4 victory over Denmark’s Clara Tauson, marking her first WTA singles final appearance in nearly three years.

The head-to-head record between Alexandrova and Yastremska stands at 3-2 in favor of the Ukrainian, though Alexandrova won their most recent encounter in 2022. Yastremska, aiming to end a title drought since 2019, will look to reclaim her winning touch against an in-form Alexandrova.
