Alex Marquez wins British MotoGP sprint to edge brother Marc

Alex Marquez claimed his first sprint race win of the 2025 MotoGP season at Silverstone on Saturday, beating older brother Marc Marquez in a thrilling 10-lap dash.

Riding a Ducati-Gresini satellite bike, Alex had finished second in all six previous Saturday sprints before finally topping the podium, closing the gap to Marc in the championship to 19 points.

“We did everything in the best possible way, even if the start wasn’t the best,” said Alex, who started second on the grid.

Marc, who led early from fourth, admitted: “I took risks on the first lap… then I made a mistake (on the second lap) which played into the hands of Alex.”

Fabio Di Giannantonio finished third, with Marco Bezzecchi fourth.
