Amir Cup 2026: Al Wakrah ready to raise level against Al Gharafa in semis, says Sierra
AL WAKRAH: Al Wakrah coach Jose Sierra said his side are fully prepared and determined to reach the final of the 2026 Amir Cup as they get set to face Al Gharafa in the semifinals.
“We have prepared well for this important tournament. The semi-finals mean that in one match we will be in the final,” Sierra told a pre-match press conference.
“Our goal is to be there. Playing in the semi-finals of a major tournament like the Emir Cup means we have to double our efforts and be in top technical condition,” he added.
Sierra said his squad’s availability and focus were key positives ahead of the clash.
“We will be there, and our players are present, which is a very positive thing. We know the level of the team we will face, Al Gharafa, and the capabilities of its players, but we are ready with all our passion to reach the final match.”
Reflecting on their quarter-final performance, Sierra stressed the need for further improvement.
“We made a great effort in the quarter-finals and we must double that and present a higher level against Al Gharafa. We qualified with merit and deservingness, and we think as one team. Our presence in the semi-finals shows the desire to reach the final,” he said.
