Al-Ain advances to Asian Champions League final despite loss to Al-Hilal

ABU DHABI: Al-Ain, the football powerhouse from the United Arab Emirates, showcased resilience and determination as they secured a spot in the Asian Champions League final despite a narrow defeat to Al-Hilal in Riyadh. The match, played at the Kingdom Arena, ended with a 2-1 victory for Al-Hilal, but it was Al-Ain who emerged victorious on aggregate, clinching a 5-4 win to progress to the much-anticipated final next month.
Despite being on the receiving end of goals from Ruben Neves and Salem Al-Dawsari, Al-Ain remained steadfast in their pursuit of glory. The early moments of the game saw Al-Hilal storming ahead, fueled by their fervent supporters and the absence of Al-Ain’s injured playmaker, Neymar. However, Al-Ain quickly regrouped, with Neves converting a penalty in the fourth minute after a VAR review confirmed Kouame Kouadio’s foul in the box.
Having secured a 4-2 lead from the first leg in Al-Ain, the visitors maintained their composure even in the face of adversity. Their solid defense and strategic gameplay ensured that they weathered the storm, ultimately sealing their passage to the final.
The upcoming final promises to be a thrilling encounter as Al-Ain prepares to face either Ulsan Hyundai from South Korea or Japan’s Yokohama F Marinos. With their sights set on clinching the coveted title, Al-Ain, under the guidance of Hernan Crespo, will undoubtedly bring their A-game to the grand finale.
