Qatar lose to Angola in handball worlds

Copenhagen, Denmark: Qatar narrowly lost to Angola 24-23 in their opening Group D match at the 2019 World Men's Handball Championship co-hosted by Germany and Denmark on Friday.

In the match played at Copenhagen’s Royal Arena, Qatar trailed 12-8 at half time. Allaedine Berrached top-scored for Qatar with six points while Rafael Capote and Youssef Ali scored four each. For Angola, Rome Hebo was the star, with seven goals, with Taca Gabriel adding five.

In the other matches in Group D, Hungary Drew with Argentina 25-25 while Sweden beat Egypt 27-24. Qatar will take on Egypt in their next match on Sunday.

Meanwhile, in other matches on Friday, Macedonia beat Japan 38-29, Austria defeated Saudi Arabia 28-22, Serbia drew with Russia 30-30, Spain thrashed Bahrain 33-23, Norway eased past Tunisia 34-24, and France edged Brazil 24-22.
