Al Sadd play Sydney University in IHF Super Globe today

Doha: Former champions Al Sadd of Qatar will take on Sydney University Handball Club in their opening match of the International Handball Federation (IHF) Super Globe at Duhail Handball Sports Hall on Tuesday.
Barcelona, French side Montpellier Handball, Bahrain’s Al Najma, Brazilian team Taubate, Tunisia’s Association Sportive de Hammamet, and Fuchse Berlin of Germany are the other participating teams of the knockout tournament which ends on Friday.
In the other matches on Tuesday, reigning champions Barcelona take on Al Najma and Montpellier play Sportive de Hammamet while Taubate meet Fuchse Berlin.
The winners will qualify for the semifinals on Wednesday while the final is on Friday.
The champions will take home a purse of $400,000, while the runners-up and third-placed teams will receive $250,000 and $150,000 respectively.
The fourth-placed team will get $40,000, the fifth $25,000, the sixth $15,000, the seventh $12,000, and the eighth $7,500.
Qatar has been hosting the tournament since 2010.
