QOC extends suspension of all local sports activities until May 14

Doha, Qatar: The Qatar Olympic Committee (QOC) announced that it has extended the suspension of all local sport activities and events until the 14th May to ensure more safety for all employees of the sport organizations and community members as the country fight to contain the spread of coronavirus (COVID-19).
The QOC’s decision is a complementary move comes in line with the preventive measures taken by Qatar to limit the spread of coronavirus by banning public gatherings also in accordance with the recommendations of Ministry of Public Health and National Pandemic Preparedness Committee.
The QOC also announced that events of all age groups across the country have been suspended until further notice.
The QOC had earlier suspended all sports activities and events until 30th of April.
Meanwhile, the Qatar Football Association (QFA) also announced that all local sports activities would stay suspended until May 14.
The Amir Cup, QNB Stars League, Second Division League, QatarGas League and Ooredoo Cup for the season 2019-2020 in addition to other local football competitions that are organized by the QFA will all stay suspended until May 14.
This decision comes within the framework of the efforts and measures taken by the state to limit the spread of the coronavirus (Covid-19) in order to ensure the safety of players, fans and administrative staff.
