Hairane wins Qatar’s second gold at Ashgabat

Doha: Jamal Hairane won Qatar's second gold, in the men's 800M, at the fifth Asian Indoor and Martial Arts Games in Ashgabat on Wednesday.
Hairane clocked 1:49.33 to finish ahead of Sri Lankan Indunil Herath Ekanayaka, who won silver, and bronze medallist Iran’s Moradi Amir.
Earlier on Tuesday, Abdalelah Haroun had won gold in 400M.
Qatari men won silver in 4X400M relay, clocking 3:12.58 to finish behind Pakistan who took gold in 3:11.40.
Qatar also won two bronze medals, Rashid Ahmed Al Mannai shining in triple jump and Ali Juma Alaraimi showing his mettle in 80kg taekwondo.
Meanwhile, Qatar’s Allamine Hamdi Mahamat finished fourth in high jump with an effort of 2.18M.
Majd Eddin Ghazal cleared 2.26 to win gold with a new games record. Keyvan Ghanbar Zadeh also cleared the same height but had to content with silver on count back.
Sri Lanka’s Manjula Wijesekara took bronze.
Qatar had to endure disappointment in the men’s 1500M as Hamza Driouch could only finish fifth.
India’s Saroj Ajay Kumar won the event in 3:48.67, Saudi Arabia’s Mohammed Othman Shaween claimed silver and Adnan Taes Agar Al Mntfage took bronze.
