Bangladesh hold Olympic Council of Asia’s Fun Run event

Dhaka: The Olympic Council of Asia (OCA) and the Bangladesh Olympic Association (BOA) jointly organised the Fun Run ahead of 18th Asian Games in Jakarta-Palembang, Indonesia, here on Monday.
A total of 500 athletes, coaches and sports enthusiasts took part in the event, which started at the Bangladesh Football Federation premises and ended at the Bangabandhu National Stadium.
Top BOA officials including Secretary-General Syed Shahed Reza, Vice-President Bashir Al Mamum and Deputy Secretary-General Asaduzzaman Kohinoor among others attended the event.
OCA media manager Jeans Zhou Jian and international relations officer Elena Chakarova were also present on the occasion.
“The OCA's Fun Run wa a great opportunity for us to develop their own awareness programme for the athletes,” said BOA Secretary-General Shahed Reza.
The Fun Run is a social event aimed at raising awareness about the Asian Games, where around 10,000 athletes from 45 countries and regions are expected to participate in 462 events of 40 sports.
The OCA has plans to hold the competition in 28 countries and regions. Pakistan hosted the first edition on December 7 in Lahore. It will resume in Sri Lanka in January, 2018, and run right through until July, 18 in Jakarta – one month before the opening ceremony.
