Yamal waves Palestine flag as Barcelona celebrate La Liga win

BARCELONA: Spanish teenage sensation Lamine Yamal has drawn widespread praise from football fans after showing support for Palestine during Barcelona’s La Liga title celebrations.

Videos shared widely on social media on Monday showed the 18-year-old waving a Palestinian flag from an open-top bus as thousands of jubilant supporters cheered along the streets of Barcelona.

Massive crowds turned out across the Spanish city to celebrate with the team following Barcelona’s league triumph.

Barca secured their 29th La Liga crown with a 2-0 win over arch-rivals Real Madrid on Sunday, in only the second instance where the league title was decided through an El Clasico result. (AFP)
