West Ham United midfielder Earthy recovers from head injury, eyes return to action

LONDON: West Ham United midfielder George Earthy has been discharged from the hospital following a head injury sustained during their recent Premier League match against Fulham. The 19-year-old academy graduate, who made his league debut as a substitute, collided with teammate Edson Alvarez, prompting a temporary halt to the game in the 85th minute.
After being taken off the pitch on a stretcher and transported to the hospital, Earthy is now back home. However, his return to play will be guided by FA and Premier League concussion protocols, ensuring his safety and well-being.
Richard Collinge, the club’s performance director, emphasized the importance of monitoring Earthy’s progress over the coming days as he undergoes a graduated return to play program.
Despite this setback, West Ham faces a crucial Europa League quarter-final return leg against Bayer Leverkusen, who lead 2-0 from the first encounter. The team will aim to rally together in Earthy’s absence as they seek to overturn the deficit and advance in the competition.
