DOHA: Umm Salal bounced back to form with a hard-fought 2-1 victory over Al Sailiya in Week 5 of the 2025-2026 Doha Bank Stars League at Al Bayt Stadium on Sunday.
The breakthrough came in the 33rd minute after a VAR-reviewed penalty decision against Al Sailiya’s Omar Yahya, who fouled Abdulrahman Al Rashidi inside the box. Oussama Tannane calmly dispatched the spot kick to give Umm Salal the lead.
The second half saw Umm Salal pile on the pressure, and their dominance paid off in the 80th minute. Cristo Gonzalez burst forward on the overlap before setting up Rami Suhail, who tapped in from close range to double the advantage.
Al Sailiya managed a late consolation through Khalid Ali in stoppage time, but it was too little, too late as Umm Salal secured all three points to revive their league campaign.
