Tuchel recalls Toney and hands Chalobah debut as England gear up for Andorra and Senegal

England manager Thomas Tuchel has recalled Ivan Toney for the upcoming internationals against Andorra and Senegal, while Chelsea defender Trevoh Chalobah has earned his first senior call-up.

Toney, 29, returns to the England squad for the first time since last summer’s Euro 2024 final loss to Spain. Now playing for Al-Ahli in Saudi Arabia, the striker has scored 22 goals in 29 league games and helped his club win the Asian Champions League.

“Ivan deserves to be with us, I think, and I’m convinced because he scored over 20 goals this season,” said Tuchel. “He won a major title with the Asian Champions League, in goals and assists made a huge contribution.”

Chalobah, born in Sierra Leone, has impressed under Tuchel at Chelsea with 32 appearances this season and consistent performances.

“He played a fantastic second half of the season with Chelsea. He is very, very consistent on a very high level,” Tuchel added.

Phil Foden misses out due to an ankle injury amid recent comments about his mental health struggles, while Jude Bellingham is included despite a lingering shoulder issue.

England face Andorra in Barcelona on June 7, followed by a friendly against Senegal in Nottingham on June 10.
