Torres brace leads Barcelona to stunning 4-2 comeback win against Atletico

MADRID: Barcelona staged a dramatic comeback to defeat Atletico Madrid 4-2 at the Metropolitano on Sunday, with Ferran Torres scoring twice to propel the Catalans back to the top of LaLiga.
Trailing 2-0 in the 70th minute, Barca mounted a sensational turnaround. Julian Alvarez had given Atletico the lead just before halftime, finishing off a brilliant move involving Antoine Griezmann and Giuliano Simeone. The hosts then doubled their advantage through Alexander Sorloth’s clinical strike after a Conor Gallagher assist.
However, Hansi Flick’s side responded in emphatic fashion. Torres struck twice in quick succession to level the score, before goals from João Félix and Robert Lewandowski completed the remarkable comeback.
With the win, Barcelona move to 60 points, level with Real Madrid but holding a game in hand due to last week’s postponed fixture against Osasuna. Atletico remain third on 56 points from 28 games.
“I am happy and proud of this team,” Flick said post-match. “They never give up… It’s a great three points, and we are happy to be top.”
