Son calls for focus as Spurs’ struggles continue

LONDON: Tottenham Hotspur captain Son Heung-min expressed his frustration following his team’s 2-1 home defeat to Leicester City on Sunday. Despite leading at halftime, Spurs conceded two quick goals in the second half, extending their dismal Premier League run to just one win in 11 matches.

Speaking to the BBC, Son acknowledged the team’s lack of concentration as a key factor in the loss. “It is very painful. What can I say? Especially when you’re winning at half-time and conceding two goals in a short period of time. It let us down and is a very frustrating afternoon,” he said.

The defeat adds pressure on manager Ange Postecoglou, who has been grappling with significant injury woes. Key players, including goalkeeper Guglielmo Vicario, defenders Cristian Romero and Micky van de Ven, and forward Dominic Solanke, remain sidelined.

Currently sitting 15th in the league table, Spurs are struggling to find consistency. Son admitted that tiredness cannot be an excuse for their recent performances. “Maybe it was a little bit sloppy … It is just a lack of concentration, and in the Premier League, any team can punish us,” he added.(Reuters)
