Salah wins third FWA Player of the Year award after Liverpool title triumph

Mohamed Salah has been named the Football Writers’ Association Player of the Year for a third time, after spearheading Liverpool’s charge to a record-equalling 20th English league title.
The Egyptian forward won nearly 90 percent of the vote — the largest margin this century — as Arne Slot’s side clinched their first title since 2020.
In scoring 28 goals and producing 18 assists, Salah broke the record for most goal involvements in a 38-game Premier League season. He now becomes only the second player, after Thierry Henry, to win the FWA honour three times, having previously collected the award in 2018 and 2022.
Virgil van Dijk finished second in the voting, with Newcastle’s Alexander Isak third and Arsenal’s Declan Rice fourth.
Salah, 32, recently signed a new two-year deal to stay at Anfield until 2027, ending speculation over a possible move away. His decision has been seen as a major boost to Liverpool’s hopes of securing a record 21st top-flight title next season.
