Roma sack Juric as crisis deepens; Mancini tipped as next manager

Roma have sacked head coach Ivan Juric less than two months after appointing him to replace Daniele De Rossi, following a disappointing 3-2 home defeat to Bologna on Sunday. Juric, brought in on a short-term contract in September, leaves the club in 12th place, just four points above Serie A’s relegation zone after 12 games.

“We would like to thank Ivan Juric for his hard work these past weeks,” Roma said in a statement. “He handled a difficult environment with the utmost professionalism, and for that, we are grateful.”

Italian media report that Roberto Mancini, former Italy and Saudi Arabia national team coach, is the favorite to take over, which would make him Roma’s fourth manager in 2024 after Juric, De Rossi, and Jose Mourinho, who was dismissed in January. Mancini has been available since his departure from the Saudi Arabia role last month.

Roma’s fans are increasingly critical of the club’s direction under American owner Dan Friedkin, particularly after the controversial sacking of De Rossi, a club legend, in September.
