Real Madrid soar to 3-0 victory as Mbappe draws a blank in Bernabeu debut
Real Madrid secured a 3-0 victory over Real Valladolid in La Liga on Sunday, with Federico Valverde opening the scoring before late goals from Brahim Diaz and debutant Endrick sealed the win. The match marked Kylian Mbappe’s Santiago Bernabeu debut, though the French striker was unable to find the net.
The first half saw Real Madrid struggle to break down Valladolid’s solid defense, with Aurelien Tchouameni firing over from long range in one of the few notable efforts. However, Carlo Ancelotti’s side found their rhythm after the break. Valverde’s powerful, deflected free-kick in the 50th minute gave Madrid the lead, and the Uruguayan midfielder acknowledged the team’s slow start, saying, “We didn’t click in the way the coach wanted us to, we lacked attitude when attacking.”
Mbappe had a couple of chances to score but was denied by Estonian goalkeeper Karl Hein and later missed the target on a counter-attack. He was substituted in the second half for 18-year-old Brazilian forward Endrick, who scored his first goal for Madrid in the closing stages.
Madrid now sit two points behind rivals Barcelona, who defeated Athletic Bilbao on Saturday.
