Ramos joins Monterrey on one-year deal

MEXICO CITY: Former Spain international Sergio Ramos has signed a one-year contract with Mexican club Monterrey, the club announced on Thursday. The 38-year-old veteran defender joins the “Rayados” seven months after departing Sevilla, his boyhood club.

Monterrey unveiled the signing through a social media video, stating, “The number 93 is ready to defend the blue and white jersey.”

Ramos, who made his LaLiga debut with Sevilla during the 2003-04 season, became a legend at Real Madrid after joining in 2005. During his 16-year tenure with Los Blancos, he secured 22 major titles, including five LaLiga titles, four Champions League trophies, and four FIFA Club World Cups.

This move marks a new chapter in Ramos’ illustrious career as he brings his experience and leadership to Liga MX.(Reuters)
