QSL CEO attends closing ceremony of 49th Saleh Saqr Ramadan Tournament

DOHA: Hani Taleb Ballan, CEO of the Qatar Stars League, attended the closing ceremony of the 49th Saleh Saqr Ramadan Football Tournament, organized by the Qatar Football Association in collaboration with QSL.
The final, held at Doha Stadium, saw Doha Club face off against Al Riffa Club in a thrilling encounter. Al Riffa secured the title after a tense 7–6 penalty shoot-out victory, capping off one of the region’s most prestigious Ramadan tournaments, known for its wide participation.
Following the match, Ballan presented medals and trophies to the winners and praised both finalists. He congratulated Al Riffa on their triumph and commended Doha Club along with all participating teams for their efforts.
Ballan emphasized the tournament’s rich legacy, noting that the Saleh Saqr Tournament is among the oldest Ramadan competitions in the Arab world and Gulf region, with a history spanning 49 years.
He highlighted its important role in shaping Qatar’s football heritage.
He also pointed out that hosting matches at Doha Stadium added a unique historical dimension to the event. Over the decades, the tournament has witnessed key milestones that have cemented its prestige and continuity, especially as it carries the name of one of Qatar football’s iconic figures.
Ballan concluded by acknowledging the continued support of QFA and QSL and expressed optimism for an exceptional Golden Jubilee edition next year, marking the tournament’s 50th anniversary. (QSL)
