Qatar U-20 football team secures AFC Asian Cup 2025 spot with 3-2 victory over Jordan

DOHA: The Qatar U-20 football team has qualified for the 2025 AFC Asian Cup, set to take place in China, after an impressive 3-2 win against Jordan in a thrilling match held on Sunday at Abdullah bin Khalifa Stadium. The clash was part of the Group J qualifiers, which also featured teams from Hong Kong and Singapore.
Qatar’s goals were scored by Mohamed Khaled in the 6th minute, Bassam Adel in the 51st, and Ibrahim Al Hassan just four minutes later in the 55th minute. Jordan fought back with a goal by Ouda Al Fakhouri in the 39th minute, while an own goal by Bassam Adel in the 69th minute gave them another chance. Despite this, Qatar held firm to secure their qualification.
The victory capped off a dominant group stage campaign for Qatar, as they topped the group with a perfect 9 points, winning all three of their matches. Earlier, they triumphed over Singapore (3-0) and Hong Kong (2-0) in the first and second rounds, respectively. Jordan finished second in the group with 6 points.(QNA)
