PSG stays unbeaten as Dembele’s early strike seals victory over 10-Man Lens
PARIS: Paris Saint-Germain continued their strong start to the Ligue 1 season with a hard-fought 1-0 victory over RC Lens at home. An early goal from Ousmane Dembele proved decisive, while Lens’ hopes took a hit after Abdukodir Khusanov’s red card on the hour mark for a reckless tackle on Achraf Hakimi.
The result saw PSG extend their unbeaten run to ten matches, placing them six points clear at the top of the table with 26 points. This gap widened further following second-placed Monaco’s surprise 1-0 defeat to Angers, leaving Lille in third with 18 points and Lens down in seventh with 14.
After a dominant 3-0 win against Marseille the previous week, PSG seemed set to deliver another commanding display in front of their home crowd. While they maintained control and created numerous chances, their performance lacked the sharpness of past outings.
The game’s only goal came just four minutes in when Bradley Barcola showcased his impressive form by chasing down a long pass on the wing, skillfully keeping it in play, and crossing for Dembele, who made no mistake in finding the net. This early advantage set the tone, yet PSG struggled to capitalize further against a resilient Lens side, despite playing a man down for the final 30 minutes.
